Yes, a gorilla. Colo was the first gorilla born in captivity. Born on December 22, 1957, she turns 50 this year here at the Columbus Zoo. The zoo here is best know for "Jungle" Jack Hanna, but it's work with gorillas is really its greatest accomplishment. Colo has 3 kids, 16 grandkids, 4 great-grandkids, and 2 great-great grandkids. She has also been a surrogate mother to three babies, including the first twins born in captivity. She's said to be stubborn and feisty and is called "The Queen" by her handlers.
